Good news!
The UN General Assembly has adopted a resolution that decides to proclaim May 25 as World Football Day.

The resolution resolves to "proclaim May 25 as World Football Day, since 2024 marks the 100th anniversary of the first ever international football tournament with the participation of representatives of all regions within the framework of the 1924 Summer Olympics held in Paris."

In addition, the document recommends that Member States "adopt strategies and programmes for the development of sports and physical activity, including football, at the national and local levels as a means of strengthening physical and mental health and well-being and fostering a sports culture in society", and "suggests celebrating World Football Day in accordance with national priorities and to spread information about the benefits of football for everyone, including through educational and awareness-raising activities."
