Honestly, it was a classic high-level Women’s Champions League battle, but also one that clearly showed why Lyon are still the benchmark in Europe.
💭 My opinion on the match
🔥 1. Lyon’s dominance was real (even before the goals)
Even though it took until extra time to kill the game, Lyon were clearly the better side across 90 minutes:
Constant pressure (tons of corners and attacks)
Much higher control of the tempo
Wolfsburg were mostly defending deep
It felt like a matter of when, not if, Lyon would break through.
🧠 2. Wolfsburg’s plan worked… until it didn’t
Wolfsburg deserve credit:
They came in with a 1–0 advantage
Defended very well for long stretches
Took the game to extra time
But:
They offered very little going forward
Once they conceded in extra time, they collapsed physically and mentally
That last 20 minutes was basically Lyon overwhelming a tired team.
🧾 Final verdict
👉 Lyon deserved it — fully.
👉 Wolfsburg were brave, but ultimately outclassed over 120 minutes.
If anything, the match confirmed that Lyon are serious contenders again for the title, especially with that kind of resilience and depth.
